Madras High Court
The High Court of Judicature at Madras was established at Chennai in June 1862 by Letters Patent. A permanent Bench of the High Court was established in Madurai in 2004. The Building of the Principal Bench of the High Court in Chennai was built in 1892 in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. In front of the High Court, there is a statue of Chola King Ellalan, known as Manu Needhi Cholan, the follower of ‘Manu Neeti’, which depicts a Cow getting justice from the King.
The sanctioned strength of Judges of the Madras High Court is 56 permanent and 19 additional judges.
