Calcutta High Court
The Calcutta High Court is the oldest High Court in India, established by a Letters Patent in May 1862 and formally opened in July 1862. The principal seat of the Calcutta High Court is in Kolkata and it has Circuit Benches in Port Blair and Jalpaiguri. The building of the Principal Bench in Kolkata was constructed in 1872. The High Court has jurisdiction over the State of West Bengal and the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
