The Calcutta High Court has directed the Police and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to extend cooperation and take necessary measures and deployment to ensure that the Blood Donation Camp is held on Balidan Divas to commemorate the Death Anniversary of Syama Prasad Mukherjee at Jatin Das Park in Kolkata.

The Bench of Justice Rajasekhar Mantha passed the order in a plea alleging that the Municipal Corporation and the Police did not accord permission for the event.

In the plea filed by one Ankit Deb, it was stated that the petitioner wants to "hold a Blood Donation Camp on Balidan Divas to commemorate the Death Anniversary of Bharat Keshari Shri Shyamaprasad Mukherjee at Jatin Das Park (Hazra More) located at 9/1, S.P. Mukherjee Road, Kolkata – 700 025".

Advocates Gouranga Kumar Das and Loknath Chatterjee appeared for the petitioner while Senior Advocate Amitesh Banerjee and Advocate Ipsita Banerjee appeared for the respondents.

The State objected to granting permission stating that the place where the Blood Donation Camp is to be held is a residential quarters of employees of Kolkata Municipal Corporation and that the Camp may restrict free ingress and egress to the residents of the said residential quarters.

The petitioner undertook that they will not restrict ingress and egress to any person at said residential quarters and will ensure free movement. The Court directed that the Camp shall be held peacefully.

"The Police and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation shall extend cooperation and shall take necessary measures and deployment to ensure that the said Blood Donation Camp is held tomorrow from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Public movement in the area shall not be inconvenienced in any way", the Court ordered.
