The Haryana Police has registered an FIR against the Rajasthan Police officials for killing the unborn child of a man named Srikant Pandit in a raid in Nuh District, Haryana.

Srikant Pandit allegedly indulges in vigilante cow protection, involving stopping illegal cattle transportation. He is accused of being responsible for the killing of two Muslim youths in Bhiwani who were allegedly involved in illegal cattle transportation.

The FIR has been lodged under Sections 148, 149, 323, 452, 312, and 454 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 for assaulting the wife of the said man who was nine months pregnant as a result of which the child died in her womb.

As per the allegations made in the FIR, the Rajasthan police reached Srikant’s home at around 3:30 AM in the morning and asked his family about him. The Police specifically said, "Vo bahut bada Gau Rakshak banta hai, Vo Mewat mein rehkar gaae bacchdon ke liye musalmaano ke khilaaf chalta hai". (He tries to become a great cow protector, he stays in Mewat and goes against Muslims for the sake of cows and calves.)

When the police officials were informed that Srikant was not at home, they hurled abused his family and started beating them up. They kicked the 9-month-pregnant wife of Srikant in the stomach which led to her miscarriage. The Rajasthan police also kidnapped two younger brothers of Srikant who are still missing.

The FIR has been filed against more than 30 Rajasthan cops who are suspected to be involved in this violence.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) via its National Spokesperson Vinod Bansal has issued a press release condemning the act committed by the Rajasthan Police officials. It has further sought an apology from the Rajasthan Police and has requested the State Government to do an inquiry into this matter through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“Ye FIR Rajasthan Police ke muh par ek tamacha hai jo apne rajnaitik aakaon ko khush karne ke liye jis prakar krurta ke saath kaam kar rahi hai, vo ghor nindneeya v chintajanak hai”, VHP said in its press release. (This FIR is a slap on the face of the Rajasthan Police which is trying hard to please its political leaders through brutality and hence is reprehensible and worrying.)

VHP has also warned of doing protests on roads in case the State Government fails to take any action.
