Supreme Court Reconstitutes 26 In-House Committees Addressing Finance, Security, PILs, Digitisation, and Case Pendency Reforms

The Supreme Court has reconstituted 26 in-house committees, effective between November 25 and December 11, 2025, to oversee a comprehensive range of administrative, supervisory, and reform-oriented tasks, including the vital areas of judicial rule-making and strategies to reduce arrears.

These committees cover a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including managing the court's finance, security, and technology, as well as addressing critical judicial matters like public interest litigation (PIL), bar affairs (such as the Bar Grievance Redressal Committee and Advocates-on-Record Examination), digitisation and preservation of case records, and measures for reducing case pendency at all levels, from trial courts to the Supreme Court itself.

Key committees include the Finance Committee (w.e.f. 25.11.2025), the Security Committee (w.e.f. 08.12.2025), and the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (w.e.f. 25.11.2025), all of which will continue until further orders.

The composition of several key committees has been specified, with the Finance Committee comprising Justice Vikram Nath, Justice J.K. Maheshwari, and Justice B.V. Nagarathna. The same three judges form the composition of the Security Committee.

The Technology Supervisory Committee includes Justice P.S. Narasimha, Justice K.V. Viswanathan, and Justice Joymalya Bagchi. Furthermore, the Bar Grievance Redressal Committee is composed of five judges: Justice Vikram Nath, Justice B.V. Nagarathna, Justice P.S. Narasimha, Justice J.B. Pardiwala, and Justice K.V. Viswanathan.

The Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee is extensive, listing Justice Vikram Nath, Justice M.M. Sundresh, Justice P.S. Narasimha, Mr. Rakesh Khanna (Senior Advocate), the Member Secretary, NALSA, and the Member Secretary, MCPC.

The Committee for Advocates-on-Record Examination includes Justice J.K. Maheshwari, Justice P.S. Narasimha, and Justice K.V. Viswanathan and the Committee for Law Clerks-cum- Research Assistants will include Justice B.V. Nagarathna, Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice K.V. Viswanathan.

Further, the Committee for Accreditation of Legal Correspondents includes Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, and the Editorial Committee includes Justice Dipankar Datta, Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice Joymalya Bagchi.
