Bombay High Court
The Bombay High Court was inaugurated in 1862 after being established through a Letter Patent issued under the Indian High Courts Act, 1861. The Principal Seat of the Bombay High Court is located in Mumbai and the High Court has regional benches at Aurangabad, Nagpur Bench and Panaji (Goa). The work of the present building of the Principal Bench at Mumbai was commenced in April 1871 and completed in November 1878. The foundation stone for a new building complex for the Principal Bench of the High Court was laid in September, 2024 in Bandra, Mumbai. The High Court has jurisdiction over the States of Maharashtra and Goa and over the Union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.
The sanctioned strength of Judges of the Bombay High Court is 71 permanent and 23 additional judges.
