The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on August 06, 2026, has recommended the elevation of four senior judges as Chief Justices of different High Courts across the country.

The Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India, has proposed the following appointments:

1. Justice V. Kameswar Rao currently serving at Delhi High Court, has been recommended for elevation as the Chief justice of Patna High Court.

2. Justice Ravindra V. Ghuge who is currently at Bombay High Court has been proposed for appointment as Chief Justice at Calcutta High Court.

3. Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi currently serving at Allahabad High Court has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.

4. Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra whose parent high court is Allahabad and is currently at Punjab & Haryana High Court, has been proposed to be elevated as the Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on August 06, 2026, in another notification, has proposed the transfer of two judges of Orissa High Court to two different High Courts.

1. Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak whose parent High Court is Gauhati and is presently at Orissa High Court has been proposed to be transferred to the Gujarat High Court.

2. Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra presently at Orissa High Court has been proposed to be transferred to Chhattisgarh High Court.
