The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personal, Public Grievances, Law & Justice has identified the subject 'Review of Personal Laws' for detailed examination.

The committee has decided to invite memoranda containing views and suggestions from the concerned stakeholders interested in the subject matter, to hold a wider consultation on the same, as per the notice published in newspapers.

The Standing Committee is chaired by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi.

The notice published today says that those who desire to submit the memoranda to the committee can send it, within 21 days of the publication of the communique, through e-mail to Goutam Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Rajya Sabha Secretariat at [email protected].

The Committee has also stated that those who wish to appear before the committee for tendering oral evidence, besides submitting memoranda, can specifically indicate so. It has clarified that the Committee's decision in this regard shall be final.

The Committee has 31 Rajya Sabha members as its members, including Senior Advocates Vivek K. Tankha, Mahesh Jethmalani and P. Wilson.
