The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against four accused including two Canada-based operatives of the proscribed Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), in connection with an attack on a Hindu priest in Punjab's Jalandhar last year.

The case relates to an attack on the Hindu priest Kamaldeep Sharma at village Bhar Singh Pura, Phillaur, District Jalandhar by accused Kamaljeet Sharma @ Kamal and Ram Singh @ Sona on the directions of Canada-based accused persons namely Arshdeep Singh @Arsh @Prabh and Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The case was initially registered as FIR 28/2021 dated 31.01.2021 at PS Phillaur, District Jalandhar Rural, and re-registered by NIA on 08.10.2021.

The investigations conducted by NIA have revealed that the entire conspiracy was hatched by the two Canada-based KTF operatives to disturb the peace and disrupt the communal harmony in Punjab by killing the Hindu priest. The Hindu priest was seriously injured in the attack.

The four accused have been charge-sheeted for the following offences by NIA –

i) Hardeep Singh Nijjar – Section 120B read with Section 307 IPC and Sections 16, 17, 18, 18B, 21, and 23 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

ii) Arshdeep Singh @ Arsh @ Prabh – Section 120B read with Section 307 IPC, and Sections 16, 17, 18, 18B, 21 & 23 of UA (P) Act.

iii) Kamaljeet Sharma - Section 120B read with Section 307 IPC, Sections 16, 17, 18, 18B, 21 & 23 of UA (P) Act.

iv) Ram Singh @ Sona - Section 120B, Section 201 read with Section 307 IPC, Sections 16, 17, 18, 18B, 21 & 23 of UA (P) Act.

Further investigation of the case is underway.
