Chief Justice DY Chandarchud today inaugurated a blood donation camp organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) in the Supreme Court lawns.

The event was organised to celebrate Young Advocates' Day on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Speaking after the event, CJI Chandrachud told the media, "A unique endeavour by the Bar to conduct a blood donation camp. I am very happy that the Bar has done that. This demonstrates that lawyers are not just people of words, but of action as well".

Apart from the CJI, Justice Hima Kohli, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Justice PS Narshima, Justice Aniruddha Bose, Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice KV Viswanathan also attended the event.

President of SCBA Dr. Adish Aggarwala and its General Secretary Rohit Pandey were present on the occasion.

At the inauguration, a book was presented to CJI on Swami Vivekananda titled Vivekananda Smṛtiḥ.

The blood donation drive is ongoing at the time of publication of this report.

Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad celebrates Young Advocates' Day every year on January 12, Vivekananda Jayanti. Since 1984 Swami Vivekananda’s birthday is also celebrated as the National Youth Day.
