The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud, senior-most Judge of the Tripura High Court, as Acting Chief Justice of that High Court.

"In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud, senior-most Judge of the Tripura High Court, to perform the duties of the office of Chief Justice of that High Court, with effect from 11.11.2022, consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Indrajit Mahanty, Chief Justice, Tripura High Court.", the notification issued by the Law Ministry read.

Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud was born on March 1, 1965 at Secunderabad. He enrolled as an Advocate in September 1990 in the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh.

He was elevated as the Judge of High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and State of Andhra Pradesh in 2017. During his 4-year tenure in Telangana High Court, he disposed of 87,957 cases.

He took oath as the Judge of the Tripura High Court in October 2021.
