The Supreme Court today directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to file its reply and produce the original case dairy in the plea filed by the daughter of late MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy challenging the order of the Telangana High Court order granting anticipatory bail to YSR Congress Party MP Y S Avinash Reddy in the case relating to the murder of her father.

The Bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Bela M. Trivedi directed "Learned counsel appearing for Central Bureau of Investigation prays and is granted two weeks time to file reply. The Central Bureau of Investigation will along with the reply file copy of the chargesheet which is stated to be filed on 30th June 2023. The CBI will also produce before this court the original case file in a sealed cover."

During the hearing, the Bench had also remarked that "the gravity of the offence is serious." Dr. Suneetha Narreddy was being represented by the Senior Advocate Sidharth Luthra along with Advocate-on-Record Jesal Wahi.

The Counsel appearing for the CBI sought 2 weeks time to file a counter affidavit in the case.

The Supreme Court had on June 19, 2023, issued a notice in the SLP and had sought a response from YSR Congress Party MP Y S Avinash Reddy and the CBI. During the Vacation of the Supreme Court, Narreddy who had appeared in person had submitted that "Milord my father was murdered. In this case, A-8 who is one of the main conspirators in the larger conspiracy did not cooperate and has been given anticipatory bail. CBI had requested custodial interrogation for the completion of the investigation and the custodial interrogation was not done due to the anticipatory bail being given." She requested that the Bail should not have been given.

The Telangana High Court granted anticipatory bail to Avinash Reddy on May 31 and directed him not to leave the country without the CBI's permission till the investigation was complete. "The petitioner shall cooperate with the investigation and appear before the CBI every Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm till the end of June 2023, and shall regularly appear as and when he is required for investigation," the High Court had said.

The High Court in its order had noted that "From the investigation done so far, there is no allegation at any point of time CBI claimed about interference of the petitioner in the investigation and involved in tampering of evidence and threatening the witnesses and the complainant, except the allegation touching the destruction of the scene of offence. The gravity of accusation is not yet clearly brought on record by the CBI so far."
