SC Collegium Recommends Making Calcutta HC Additional Judge Permanent, Decision Deferred In July
The Supreme Court Collegium consisting of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna has recommended the name of Shri Justice Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury, Additional Judge, for appointment as permanent Judge of the High Court at Calcutta.
The notification mentions, “The above proposal was placed before the Supreme Court Collegium on 12 July 2023. However, on an overall consideration of the proposal, the Collegium deferred consideration of the proposal.”
The notification dated October 31st, 2023 read, “We have scrutinized and evaluated the material placed on record. Having considered all aspects of the matter and on an overall 2 consideration of the above proposal, the Collegium resolves to recommend that Shri Justice Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury who is due to demit office on superannuation on 27 December 2023, be appointed as a permanent Judge of the High Court at Calcutta.”
