The Supreme Court Collegium comprising CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice B R Gavai and Justice Surya Kant has recommended the transfer of a judge for better administration of Justice. The Collegium followed the Memorandum of Procedure and sought the opinion of Supreme Court judges who are acquainted with the workings of the Delhi High Court regarding the proposed transfer.

Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar from Delhi High Court to the Rajasthan High Court.

Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar:

He was born on June 14, 1962, and completed his B.Sc. from Delhi University in 1983. He completed his LLB from Campus Law Center, Delhi University and was enrolled as an Advocate in Delhi Bar Council in 1987. He joined Delhi Higher Judiciary Service in 2000 and was appointed to Rohini District Court. In 2019, he was appointed Permanent Judge in the High Court of Delhi.

The notification, dated 16 August, reads, "On 10 August 2023, the Collegium proposed transfer of Mr. Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar, Judge, High Court of Delhi, to the Rajasthan High Court, for better administration of justice...Mr. Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar by a representation dated 16 August 2023 has requested for his retention in Delhi. We have considered the request made by Mr. Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar in his representation. The Collegium does not find any merit in the request made by him. The Collegium, therefore, resolves to reiterate its recommendation dated 10 August 2023 to transfer Mr. Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar to the Rajasthan High Court".

Earlier, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the transfer of Justice Sudhir Singh from Patna High Court to Punjab and Haryana High Court, through a notification dated 11 August.
