SC Collegium Recommends Judicial Officers For Appointment As Judges Of Uttarakhand, Rajasthan High Courts
The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting on December 22, 2024, recommended the appointment of Judicial Officer Ashish Naithani as a judge of the Uttarakhand High Court.
The Uttarakhand High Court, with a sanctioned strength of 11 judges, is currently operating with only 6, leaving 5 vacancies.
The notification dated December 22, 2024 read, “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 22nd December, 2024 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Ashish Naithani, Judicial Officer, as a Judge of the High Court of Uttarakhand.”
Additionally, the Collegium recommended the elevation of three judicial officers as judges of the Rajasthan High Court:
- Chandra Shekhar Sharma,
- Pramil Kumar Mathur, and
- Chandra Prakash Shrimali.
The Rajasthan High Court, which has a sanctioned strength of 50 judges, is currently functioning with 32, resulting in a vacancy of 18 judges. These recommendations were also made during the same meeting chaired by Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna.
The notification dated December 22, 2024 read, “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 22nd December, 2024 has approved the proposal for appointment of the following Judicial Officers, as Judges of the Rajasthan High Court: (i) (ii) (iii) Shri Chandra Shekhar Sharma, Shri Pramil Kumar Mathur, and Shri Chandra Prakash Shrimali.”
