Supreme Court Denies Anticipatory Bail To Member of Parliament PV Midhun Reddy In Rs.3500 Crore Andhra Pradesh Liquor Scam
PV Midhun Reddy filed an SLP seeking anticipatory bail in liquor scam case, after being denied bail form the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.

Today, the Supreme Court dismissed the anticipatory bail sought by Member of Parliament, PV Midhun Reddy in Rs. 3500 Crore Liquor Scam Case in State of Andhra Pradesh.
Being aggrieved by the order of High Court of Andhra Pradesh, wherein the High Court observed that the PV Midhun Reddy is not entitled to leniency in the grant of anticipatory bail, the present SLP was filed before the Supreme Court. The High Court of Andhra Pradesh dismissed the petition on July 15, 2025.
The Bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan dismissed the matter.
Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Reddy, tried to pursue the Court to grant anticipatory bail and submitted, "A similar... case was filed when the previous regime as well."
Justice Pardiwala asked Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the State of Andhra Pradesh, "What is your case, Mr. Rohatgi?"
Rohatgi replied that the anticipatory bail has been rejected of all other co-accused in the same conspiracy.
Rohatgi continued to argue, however, Justice Pardiwala remarked, "It's alright, dismissed."
Singhvi tried to pursue to the Court and urged, "There is no gravity of the offence...". Nevertheless, Justice Pardiwala remarked that it's alright.
Upon which, Singhvi pleaded for some time and the Judge orally said, "Take you time."
Case Background
Reddy has been accused of offences punishable under Sections 420, 409, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, among others and of a large-scale liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh (2019-2024), involving political figures, including the petitioner (a Lok Sabha member), who allegedly facilitated a policy favouring select distilleries in exchange for kickbacks, causing over Rs. 3,500 crores in losses.
Earlier, in April, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh refused to grant anticipatory bail to PV Midhun Reddy as no specific allegation were made out against him.
