The Delhi High Court has taken the unusual step of quashing a First Information Report (FIR) related to cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy by directing the parties involved to purchase uniform socks worth Rs. 48,000 for the Delhi Police personnel. The Court's decision came after it was informed that the parties involved in the dispute had reached a settlement and no longer wished to pursue criminal proceedings.

A Bench of Justice Saurabh Banerjee issued the order, acknowledging the parties' agreement and deeming the continuation of the FIR as pointless. As a resolution, the Court directed the complainant and the two accused individuals to jointly contribute Rs. 48,000, which would be used to purchase uniform socks for Delhi Police personnel stationed at various police stations.

The Court specified that the petitioners would hand over their respective shares of Rs. 24,000 in cash to respondent no.2, who would then combine the amounts to reach the total cost of Rs. 48,000 for procuring the uniform socks for the police personnel at the mentioned police stations.

Advocate Abhishek Gupta appeared for the Petitioners and Advocate Meenakshi Dahiya appeared for the Respondents.

Subsequently, the Court proceeded to quash the FIR, stating, “Accordingly, the petition is allowed and FIR No.0434/2018 dated 09.12.2018 registered under Section 406/420/467/468/ 469/ 471/ 120B/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 at PS.: Ashok Vihar, Delhi and all proceeding emanating therefrom are quashed subject to the petitioners and the respondent no.2 depositing a cost of Rs.24,000/- each (total amounting to Rs.48,000/-).”
