The High Court for the State of Telangana has on Friday dismissed an Election Petition which was filed challenging the election of T. Raja Singh as MLA from the Goshamahal Assembly Constituency.

The said Election Petition was filed by the losing candidate Prem Singh Rathore, belonging to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The election petition was filed on the ground that Raja Singh in his nomination had disclosed 43 criminal cases filed against him but had not disclosed 8 other cases which were also allegedly pending against him.

It was the case of Raja Singh that he had disclosed all the cases within his knowledge, being 43 in number, and could not disclose the cases referred by Election Petitioner as they were not in his knowledge.

He contended that he made best efforts to ascertain the cases against him, including by addressing a letter to the police department requesting for information on all pending cases against him.

Justice P. Naveen Rao, after a detailed trial, has dismissed the election petition vide its judgment of Friday, which has not been uploaded by the High Court on its website, till the publication of this report.

Goshamahal Assembly constituency falls under Hyderabad Lok sabha constituency and Raja Singh had won the seat by defeating Prem Singh Rathore from Telangana Rashtra Samithi with a margin of more than 17 thousand votes.
