The Madras High Court has passed an order of interim prohibition staying the release of the movie ‘Vaa Vaathiyar’. The High Court passed such a direction while considering a petition seeking the attachment of the proceeds of the movie towards satisfaction of a decretal sum.

The High Court was considering an Election Petition filed under Order 21 Rule 43 of CPC to prohibit the release of the movie ‘Vaa Vaathiyar’ and to attach the proceeds of the movie towards satisfaction of the decretal amount of Rs 21,78,50,000.

The movie was set to release on December 5, 2025.

The Division Bench of Justice S.M.Subramaniam and Justice C. Kumarappan held, “There shall be an order of interim prohibition against the respondents, not to release the movie 'VAA VAATHIYAR’ till 05.12.2025.”




The matter has now been posted on December 8, 2025.
