Gauhati HC Decourts Advocate From HC Premises For Wearing Jeans
The Gauhati High Court on Friday directed a police personnel to decourt an Advocate outside the High Court campus for wearing Jeans while appearing before the Court in a case.
Justice Kalyan Rai Surana also directed to notify this order to the Chief Justice as well as to the Registrar General.
“Matter stands adjourned today as Mr. B.K. Mahajan, learned counsel for the petitioner is attired in jeans pant. Therefore, the Court had to call for the police personnel to decourt him outside the High Court campus.
Let this order be brought to the notice of the Honourable the Chief Justice as well as to the learned Registrar General.”, Justice Kalyan Rai Surana directed.
The Court also directed the matter to be brought to the notice of Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
“The matter be also brought to the notice of Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.”, the Court ordered.
The Court listed the hearing after a week.
