Delhi High Court Directs Its Registrar General To Consider Formulation Of Child Access & Custody Guidelines
The Delhi High Court passed such directions while dealing with a public interest litigation petition raising concerns about Child Access and Custody Guidelines along with a Parenting Plan.

While dealing with a public interest litigation petition raising concerns about Child Access and Custody Guidelines along with a Parenting Plan, the Delhi High Court has permitted the litigants to approach the Court on the Administrative Side through Registrar General by making an exhaustive representation within a fortnight for framing of such guidelines.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia held, “Having gone through the averments made in the writ petition and the documents enclosed therewith, we find it appropriate to permit the petitioners to approach this Court on the Administrative Side through Registrar General of this Court by way of making an exhaustive representation enclosing all the documents, which have been relied upon in this writ petition. Such representation shall be made within fortnight.”
Advocate Manav Gupta represented the Petitioner, while Advocate Padma Priya represented the Respondent.
It was brought to the Court’s notice that such guidelines have been framed by the Calcutta High Court and by the Karnataka High Court in terms of an interim order passed in W.P.(C) 24650/2023.
The Bench further ordered that on receipt of such representation, the Registrar General should place the matter before the appropriate Committee/authority, which would then take a decision in terms of the prayers made in this writ petition for formulating such policy in consultation with the stakeholders.
