The Delhi High Court has dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of man who was accused of punching a police officer on his face.

…the petitioner has audacity to beat a police officer and along with other co-accused persons and his uniform was also torn. In my opinion, the present petition does not even call for issuing notice.”, the bench of Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar observed while dismissing the petition.

Advocate A Ali Khan appeared for the applicant whereas APP Priyanka Dalal appeared for the State.

As per the prosecution case, the complainant was on duty and was clearing a traffic jam when he saw two boys riding a motorbike coming from the wrong side. The motorcycle did not have numbers on both sides, i.e., the front and back, and only "Chaudhary" was written on the number plate. The complainant asked the rider why they were entering into the moving vehicles on the wrong side of the road, to which the rider replied that “tu mujhe janta nahi hain, main mandoli ka chaudhary hun aur main vakeel hun jo ki tumera kya bigadega, main roz isi tarah jata hun” and started quarrelling with him.

In the meantime, the rider called his two associates through phone and all of them started quarreling with complainant and one of them allegedly gave a punch on the complainant’s face and tore his uniform.

Thereafter, the accused persons fled away from the spot. As a result, the FIR was registered against the petitioner and the co-accused persons and investigation was taken up.
