Police Seize 211 Prohibited Knives Sold Via E-Commerce Platform Flipkart After Chhattisgarh High Court's Order In Robbery & Murder Case
The Chhattisgarh High Court had taken Suo-moto cognizance in the matter pertaining to sale of sharp edged weapons especially the knives in local markets and online platforms.

The Chhattisgarh High Court has been informed that Police has seized of 211 prohibited knives from 193 people sold to them via e-commerce platform Flipkart, following its order in a robbery and murder case wherein it refused to quash FIR against the employees of the logistic company hired for delivery.
The Court had taken Suo-moto cognizance of sale of sharp edged weapons, especially knives in local markets and online platforms.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Bibhu Datta Guru observed, "...data shows an alarming picture of the situation prevailing in the society, though the State appears to be taking adequate measures so that such dangerous weapons are not sold in open markets/online platforms and we further hope and trust that the State and its agencies would be more vigilant and take positive steps in curbing the aforesaid menace which would in turn help in reducing the crime relating to the Arms Act, in the society."
The Court had directed the Principal Secretary, Department of Home, Government of Chhattisgarh, to file his personal affidavit with respect to the news item that was published in the Bilaspur Bhaskar.
"The sum and substance of the above affidavit shows that in the year 2024, total 1399 cases were registered under the Arms Act and 677 cases were registered during the period 01.01.2025 to 30.06.2025", the Court noted.
The matter was listed for further monitoring on September 22, 2025.
