The Centre has notified the transfer of judges of three different High Courts. The transfers have been notified by the law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Twitter.

The transfers are as follows:

  • Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh, Judge of Allahabad High Court transferred as a Judge of Kerala High Court.
  • Justice Manoj Bajaj Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court transferred as a Judge of Allahabad High Court.
  • Justice Gaurang Kanth, Judge of Delhi High Court transferred as a Judge of Calcutta High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium had earlier on July 12 recommended the transfer of the above-mentioned judges.

The Delhi High Court Bar Association had also passed a resolution expressing concern over the Collegium's recommendation to transfer Justice Gaurang Kanth to Calcutta High Court saying such transfer will adversely affect the dispensation of justice on account of reduction in the existing strength of judges. The bar body has asked its members to abstain from work on July 17 as a token of protest, saying the transfer is a "rarest of rare case".
