The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Justice Tirunelveli Subbiah Sivagnanam, a judge of Calcutta High Court to be the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Tirunelveli Subbiah Sivagnanam, Judge, Calcutta High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," the notification released on the website of Law Ministry read.

Justice Sivagnanam was born on September 16, 1963. He was enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu on September 10, 1986. He was appointed as the Additional Judge of Madras High Court on March 31, 2009, and Permanent Judge on March 29, 2011. He was sworn in as the Judge of the Calcutta High Court on October 25, 2021.
