The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Justice T. S. Sivagnanam, senior-most puisne Judge of Calcutta High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.

“In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice T. S. Sivagnanam, senior-most puisne Judge of Calcutta High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 31.03.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Prakash Shrivastava, Chief Justice, Calcutta High Court.”, the notification released by the Law Ministry read.

Justice T. S. Sivagnanam enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in 1986. He was appointed as Additional Judge of Madras High Court and as Permanent Judge in 2011.

Justice T. S. Sivagnanam was sworn in as a Judge of Calcutta High Court in 2021.
