The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of two judicial officers to be the Judges of the Madras High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended these names in a meeting held on May 18, 2026.

The judicial officers notified to be Judges are:

1. Shri Dharmalingam Lingeswaran,

2. Shri Karthikeyan Balathandayutham

The Law Minister, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, announced this development on X today. His tweet read, "In exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India, in consultation with Chief Justice of India, the President is pleased to appoint the following 02 Judicial Officers as Additional Judges of the Madras High Court:-

1. Shri Dharmalingam Lingeswaran

2. Shri Balathandayutham Karthikeyan"
