The Kerala High Court yesterday directed Ansil Jaleel, former leader of KSU (Kerala Students Union) to appear before the Investigating Officer within one week for the purpose of interrogation.

A Single Bench of Justice Ziyad Rahman A.A. said, “… it is ordered that the petitioner shall appear before the Investigating Officer within one week from today for subjecting himself to interrogation.”

The Bench observed that after interrogation, in case of his arrest, he shall be released on bail.

Advocates Susanth Shaji, Sidharth O., and Albin A. Joseph appeared on behalf of the petitioner while Public Prosecutor appeared on behalf of the respondents.

In this case, a bail application was filed by the petitioner with regard to a case registered against him earlier this month. The petitioner was accused of forging a B.Com Degree certificate and the police started an investigation based on a complaint lodged by the controller of exams of the Kerala University.

The High Court in view of the facts and circumstances of the case noted, “Considering the factual circumstances revealed from the materials placed before me, I deem it appropriate to pass an interim order for ensuring the cooperation of the petitioner with the investigation.”

The Court, therefore, directed that the petitioner shall be released on bail upon executing a bond for Rs.50,000/- with two solvent sureties each for the like sum to the satisfaction of the Investigating Officer.

“This order shall be in force for a period of two weeks”, said the Court.

Accordingly, the Court listed the matter for the next hearing on July 12, 2023.
