Allahabad High Court Urges UP Govt. To Implement FASTER System For Quick Release Of Accused After Bail
The case stemmed from a previous order in which the Allahabad High Court had directed the district judiciary to properly maintain the process register and ensure the effective implementation of court processes, such as the issuance of summons and warrants.

The Allahabad High Court directed the authorities in Uttar Pradesh to provide an update on the measures being taken to implement the FASTER (Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records) mechanism in the state. FASTER is a digital initiative designed to streamline the transmission of court orders, making it easier and faster for court decisions to be communicated electronically.
The system was launched in 2022 by the then Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana.
The case stemmed from a previous order in which the Allahabad High Court had directed the district judiciary to properly maintain the process register and ensure the effective implementation of court processes, such as the issuance of summons and warrants.
Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal, presiding over the case, observed that the Supreme Court had issued several directives requiring that once a bail order is passed by the relevant court, it should be promptly communicated to the prison authorities to ensure the timely release of prisoners. The Court said, “Therefore, it would be appropriate that just like Delhi, in U.P. also. the Courts' orders, including the bail orders, should be electronically sent to the jails for the earliest release of the prisoners,”
In light of this, the Court directed, “The Deputy Director General, NIC as well as Director General (Prison), U.P. will also inform this Court on the next date of listing whether the FASTER (Fast and Secure Transmission of Electronic Record) System can be implemented in U.P. for transmission of eauthenticated copies of the interim orders, stay orders, bail orders etc. for compliance and due execution, through a secured electronic communication channel as directed by the Apex Court,”
Advocate Balram Singh appeared for the Applicant.
During the hearing, it was also brought to the Court's attention that the National Prisoner Information Portal in Uttar Pradesh was not functioning properly. As a result, the Court directed the relevant authorities to address this issue.
Additionally, the Court noted the shortage of staff in the district courts and instructed the Registrar General to provide an update on the steps being taken to fill these vacancies.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for January 31.
