Police To Ensure That Movement Of Counsel To Court Is Unhindered: Allahabad HC Takes Note Of Large Mahakumbh Gathering While Adjourning Hearing For 3rd Time
The High Court was considering a matter which was twice posted at 10 am and had to be adjourned as counsel could not reach the Court in time because of extreme traffic jam due to Mahakumbh.

The Allahabad High Court adjourned the hearing in a matter for the third time and asked the Police to ensure that the movement of Counsel to the Court during Mahakumbh is unhindered and does not affect the functioning of the Court.
The Bench was considering a matter which was twice posted at 10 am and had to be adjourned on account of a request by the counsel for one party that they could not reach the Court in time because of conditions of extreme traffic jams in the city.
The Single Bench of Justice J.J. Munir asserted, “While this Court understands that this is an unusual situation because of the presence of a large population visiting the Mahakumbh, it is the duty of the Police to ensure that movement of learned counsel to the Court is unhindered and does not affect the functioning of the Court. Any hindrance in the movement of learned counsel during Court hours impedes the process of dispensation of justice.”
Advocate Prashant Gaur appeared for the Petitioner while Advocate R.K.Paramhans Singh appeared for the Respondent.
The Bench highlighted the fact that the Police Administration including the Traffic Police and the Civil Administration must understand that this is a High Court where the functioning of justice cannot be brought to a standstill because of contingencies. “Special measures have to be made in this regard”, it added.
Adjourning the matter for a third time to February 18, 2025, the Bench said, “Let this order be communicated to the Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj through the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Allahabad by the Registrar (Compliance) today.”
