Allahabad High Court Orders CBI Probe Against Woman, Lawyer For Filing False Rape Cases
The High Court was hearing a plea seeking protection from arrest, found that the complainant, Pooja Rawat, and her lawyer, Advocate Parmanand Gupta, had been repeatedly filing similar false cases against multiple men.

The Allahabad High Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry against a woman and her lawyer for allegedly filing multiple false rape and criminal cases against several individuals with the intent of extorting money.
The Division Bench of Justice Brij Raj Singh and Justice Vivek Chaudhary while hearing a plea seeking protection from arrest, found that the complainant, Pooja Rawat, and her lawyer, Advocate Parmanand Gupta, had been repeatedly filing similar false cases against multiple men.
"Considering the seriousness of the allegations with regard to the lodging of a large number of criminal complaints by the victim/informant Pooja Rawat through her counsel Shri Parmanand Gupta against a large number of persons, of similar nature, we feel it appropriate to direct the CBI to enquire into the matter and submit its report," the Court observed.
The case came to light when the petitioners sought to quash an FIR dated January 30, filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66D of the Information Technology Act. The petitioners also requested protection from arrest and an end to coercive action against them.
The petitioners' counsel argued that Rawat had previously lodged 11 similar FIRs, making the current FIR her 12th complaint, all filed through Advocate Gupta.
The State counsel supported this claim, informing the Court that the complainant and her lawyer had filed multiple cases against different individuals.
Observing a clear pattern of collusion, the Court remarked that the FIRs were being misused to create pressure and extort money. The CBI has been directed to investigate and submit a report by April 10. Meanwhile, the Court granted interim protection from arrest to the petitioners.
