
Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Appointment Of Chief Justices Across Four High Courts
|The Supreme Court Collegium has resolved to recommend the elevation of four judges to be the Chief Justices of four different High Courts.
The Collegium, headed by the Chief Justice of India, in its meetings held on August 06 and August 31, 2026, decided upon the following names:
1. Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra, Judge, Orissa High Court, as Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court, consequent upon the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on September 04, 2026.
2. Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal, Judge, Chhattisgarh High Court, as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court. The Collegium, in another notification, has also proposed that Justice Agrawal be immediately transferred to the Rajasthan High Court, pending his appointment as its Chief Justice.
3. Justice Alpesh Yeshvant Kogje, Judge, Gujarat High Court, as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
4. Justice Dr. Pushpendra Singh Bhati, Judge, Rajasthan High Court, as Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
