Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Elevation Of Three High Court Judges To Supreme Court

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on May 26, 2025 has resolved to recommend the elevation of three senior judges, including two Chief Justices of High Courts, to the Supreme Court of India.

The judges recommended for elevation are:

  1. Justice N.V. Anjaria, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court and originally from the Gujarat High Court.
  2. Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, whose parent High Court is Rajasthan.
  3. Justice A.S. Chandurkar, judge of the Bombay High Court.

The Supreme Court, when at full strength, consists of 34 judges including the Chief Justice of India.
