The Ministry of Law and Justice approved the elevation of two judicial officers—Sanjay Parihar and Shahzad Azeem—as judges of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.

Their appointments were earlier recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on April 16 and have now been confirmed and published on the ministry’s website.

Shahzad Azeem currently holds the position of Registrar General of the High Court, while Sanjay Parihar has previously served as the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Jammu.

The notification dated April 29, 2025 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Sanjay Parihar and (ii) Shahzad Azeem to be Judges of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”
