
Centre Notifies Appointment Of 19 Advocates & Judicial Officers As Judges Across Three High Courts

The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of 19 new judges, including Advocates and judicial officers, to the High Courts of Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Gauhati, following recommendations by the Supreme Court Collegium earlier this month.
The Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the appointments via a post on social media platform X.
Madhya Pradesh High Court
A total of 11 appointments comprising five advocates and six judicial officers have been made to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The five advocates recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on July 1 and now appointed as judges are:
- Pushpendra Yadav
- Anand Singh Bahrawat
- Ajay Kumar Nirankari
- Jai Kumar Pillai
- Himanshu Joshi
In addition, two judicial officers have been appointed as permanent judges:
- Ramkumar Choubey — Initially recommended by the High Court Collegium in May 2023 and later by the SC Collegium in January 2025
- Rajesh Kumar Gupta
The following four judicial officers have been appointed as Additional Judges of the High Court for a term of two years:
- Alok Awasthi
- Ratnesh Chandra Singh Bisen
- Bhagwati Prasad Sharma
- Pradeep Mittal
Telangana High Court
The Central Government has also appointed four advocates as Additional Judges of the Telangana High Court, based on the recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium. The appointees are:
- Gouse Meera Mohiuddin
- Chalapathi Rao Suddala (alias S. Chalapathi Rao)
- Vakiti Ramakrishna Reddy
- Gadi Praveen Kumar
Gauhati High Court
Additionally, four appointments have been made to the Gauhati High Court two judicial officers and two advocates following recommendations made earlier this month.
The judges are:
- Pranjal Das (Judicial Officer)
- Sanjeev Kumar Sharma (Judicial Officer)
- Anjan Moni Kalita (Advocate)
- Rajesh Mazumdar (Advocate)
