Centre Notifies Appointment Of 12 Advocates & Judicial Officers As Judges Across Three High Courts

The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified a series of judicial appointments following recent recommendations by the Supreme Court Collegium.

Advocate Ajit Kumar has been appointed as a judge of the Patna High Court.

The notification dated August 01, 2025 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Ajit Kumar, to be a Judge of the Patna High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”

His name had been recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on July 3.

In a separate appointment, Advocate Tuhin Kumar Gedela was named as an additional judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. This followed a Collegium recommendation made on July 2.

The notification dated August 01, 2025 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Tuhin Kumar Gedela, to be an Additional Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court for a period of two years with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”

Additionally, the Central government approved the appointment of ten judicial officers as additional judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The officers appointed are:

  1. Virinder Aggarwal,
  2. Mandeep Pannu,
  3. Parmod Goyal,
  4. Shalini Singh Nagpal,
  5. Amarinder Singh Grewal,
  6. Subhas Mehla,
  7. Surya Partap Singh,
  8. Rupinderjit Chahal,
  9. Aradhana Sawhney, and
  10. Yashvir Singh Rathor.

These appointments were also based on recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium on July 2.
