
Centre Notifies Appointment Of Advocates, Judicial Officers As Judges Of High Courts
|The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of three judicial officers as Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court and one Advocate and one judicial officer as Additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended these names in a meeting held on August 18, 2026.
The Law Minister, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, announced this development on September 08, 2026, on X. The tweet said, "In exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India, in consultation with Chief Justice of India, the President is pleased to appoint the following Advocate/Judicial Officers as Judges / Additional Judges in the High Courts:-"
The three judicial officers notified to be Judges of Chhattisgarh High Court are:
(i) Santosh Sharma
(ii) Sushma Sawant
(iii) Sudhir Kumar
The two names notified to be the Additional Judges of Gauhati High Court are:
(i) Advocate Shri Nchumbemo Mozhui
(ii) Judicial Officer Smt. Helen Dawngliani
