Centre Notifies Elevation Of Chief Justices Of Three High Courts To Supreme Court
The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the elevation of the Chief Justices of three High Courts to be the Judges of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended these three names on September 28, 2026.
The Law Minister, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, announced this development on X today. His tweet read, "In exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India is pleased to appoint the following Chief Justices of High Courts as Judges of the Supreme Court of India:"
The Judges elevated to the Supreme Court are:
1. Justice Sunita Agarwal, Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court (Parent High Court - Allahabad)
2. Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court (Parent High Court - Allahabad)
3. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, (Parent High Court- Jharkhand)
