The Supreme Court Collegium has resolved to recommend Justice Meenakshi M. Rai to be appointed as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.

Justice Meenakshi M. Rai is currently the Judge of the Sikkim High Court. 

The Supreme Court Collegium, in a meeting held on May 22, 2026, made this recommendation, given the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court Sangam Kumar Sahoo is set to retire on June 04, 2026.

The resolution read, "The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 22nd May, 2026 has recommended appointment of Ms. Justice Meenakshi M. Rai, Judge, High Court of Sikkim as Chief Justice, High Court of Judicature at Patna, consequent upon retirement of incumbent Chief Justice on 4th June, 2026."
