Justice M. Duraiswamy Appointed Acting Chief Justice Of Madras High Court

The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Justice M. Duraiswamy, senior-most Judge of the Madras High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

"In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice M. Duraiswamy, senior-most Judge of the Madras High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court, with effect from13.09.2022 consequent upon superannuation of Shri Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari, Chief Justice, Madras High Court.", the notification dated September 5, 2022 read.

Madras High Court

• Justice M. Duraiswamy appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

He enrolled as an Advocate in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in 1987. Justice M. Duraiswamy was Appointed as Central Government Standing Counsel for the period 1997-2000. He was elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Madras in 2009 and was appointed as the Judge of the Madras High Court in 2011.
