An NGO fighting for the rights of persons belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes has written an open letter to the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi for marching into the Supreme Court on October 12, 2026. It alleged that his actions trampled upon the ideals of the father of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Dr. Ambedkar Society for Thoughts, Actions and Consciousness (DASTAK) has written an open letter to Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, seeking a public, unconditional apology over the October 12 incident involving opposition leaders entering the Supreme Court premises.

In its press note, the organisation expressed deep concern and anguish over the incident, alleging that Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders entered the Supreme Court premises with a massive crowd without permission for their political interests, creating chaos and disregarding the dignity of the Honourable Supreme Court.

The organisation described October 12, 2026, as the “blackest day for Indian democracy since the Emergency” it added, “October 12, 2026, a highly controversial chapter was added to the democratic history of India, which will be called the blackest day for Indian democracy since the Emergency. The manner in which you entered the Supreme Court, raises serious questions not only about your political understanding and maturity, but also about your adherence to constitutional decorum and your faith in the very Constitution that you carry in your hands.”

The organisation stated that the Supreme Court of India is a constitutional institution established to protect citizens' rights and establish justice. Referring to Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution, the organisation said that respect for constitutional institutions is the soul of democracy.

The organisation in its letter alleged, “Whatever happened inside the Supreme Court, under your leadership was not only a security breach and a disregard for security protocols in democratic history, but it was also a direct assault on the core spirit of the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb, the dignity of constitutional institutions, and the soul of the Constitution.”

In the open letter, it also raised several issues concerning Rahul Gandhi's political actions, including allegations of vote theft, opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, criticism of the Election Commission and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and criticism of Indian democracy and constitutional institutions on foreign soil. The letter said, “This raises suspicion that you are working not only deliberately but also at the behest of certain other forces to shake people's faith in the democracy of India. ”

The organisation also alleged continuous attempts to instigate the youth, staging protests on the streets without prior permission, and attempting to pressure the judiciary by demanding a meeting with the Chief Justice of India.

The organisation said, “This act has hurt the sentiments of crores of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Backward Class people, as well as Constitution lovers who look up to Babasaheb as their ideal”

The organisation demanded, “Therefore, our organization demands that you not only clarify the aforementioned facts but also tender a public, unconditional apologyto the people of the country, the honourable judiciary, and the crores of citizens who respect Babasaheb's ideals for your irresponsible behaviour in the Supreme Court”

In its concluding remarks, the organisation expressed hope that Rahul Gandhi would understand the sensitivity of these matters, bring reform to his conduct, offer a clarification and apologise to the nation from a public platform.
