Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Elevation Of Three Judges As Chief Justices Of High Courts
The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on September 11, 2025, has resolved to recommend the elevation of three senior judges as Chief Justices of different High Courts across the country.
The Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India, has proposed the following appointments:
- Justice Soumen Sen, currently serving at the Calcutta High Court, has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
- Justice Pavankumar B. Bajanthri, whose parent High Court is Karnataka and presently serving at the Patna High Court, has been recommended to take over as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
- Justice M. Sundar, presently at the Madras High Court, has been proposed for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. His appointment is expected to take effect following the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on September 14, 2025.
