Centre Notifies Appointment Of Judge Of Gujarat High Court

The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Pranav Shailesh Trivedi as Judge of the Gujarat High Court.

The Notification, dated January 19, 2024, reads, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Pranav Shailesh Trivedi to be a Judge of the Gujarat High Court, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office”.

On September 26, 2022, the Collegium of the High Court of Gujarat made a recommendation to appoint Pranav Shailesh Trivedi as a Judge of the High Court of Gujarat. The Chief Minister and Governor of the State of Gujarat both agreed with this recommendation.

Pranav Shailesh Trivedi was registered with the State Bar Council in the year 2000 and has been practising at the High Court of Gujarat for 23 years. His areas of expertise include taxation, civil, criminal, constitutional, labour, company, and service cases. He specializes in taxation and criminal law. 

The Resolution dated January 9, 2024 of the Supreme Court Collegium, read, "We, therefore, endorse the observations made in the file by the Department of Justice while referring back the above proposal for positive consideration and are of the considered view that Shri Pranav Shailesh Trivedi is fit and suitable for being elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Gujarat".
