The Delhi High Court has directed that adjournment slips without mentioning of reasons will not be accepted by Court Masters.

The Division Bench of Justice C Hari Shankar and Justice Om Prakash Shukla while dealing with an Application expressed surprise that in the format of the adjournment slips, which have to be filled in by counsel who seek adjournment, there is no column requiring the reason for adjournment to be specified.

Calling it unacceptable, the Court directed the Registry to ensure that a fresh adjournment slip proforma is uploaded on the Delhi High Court website, in which a separate column setting out the reasons for adjournment is specifically included.

"Adjournment slips which do not cite the reasons for adjournment would not be accepted by the Court Masters", the Court ordered.
