Chhattisgarh High Court Stays Civil Judges Exam 2024 As Apex Court Is Seized Of Issue Of Minimum Number Of Years Of Practice As Lawyer
The Chhattisgarh High Court put on hold the examination after being informed about an order passed by the Supreme Court.

The Chhattisgarh High Court has put on hold the upcoming Chhattisgarh Civil Judge (Junior Division) 2024 Examination until further orders.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Arvind Kumar Verma was apprised by the Advocate General appearing for State that on 18th March, 2025, the Apex Court passed an order recording that the Karnataka High Court has already put the selection process in abeyance in order to await the decision of the Apex Court with regard to providing minimum number of years of practicing as a lawyer as a pre-condition for appearing for the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) and Civil Judge (Junior Division).
The Apex Court had also noted that as far as the Gujarat High Court is concerned, the procedure is stayed by the Apex Court.
"As the Apex Court is seized of the matter, respondent No.2/Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission is directed not to proceed with the examination in question until further orders," the Court ordered.
The Exam was scheduled to be held on 18th May, 2025.
