Written Submissions has been filed by Advocate J. Sai Deepak on behalf of the Tantri of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Thiruvananthapuram as well as People for Dharma and M. V. Soundararajan, interveners before the Supreme Court in the matter. Interveners had sought the scrapping of the amicus curiae report based on which administration of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple was taken over from the royals by the Supreme Court committee. The interveners had also sought the appointment of the Travancore royals at the helms of administration of the temple, as it has been for centuries.
The People for Dharma trust had lent assistance to the Supreme Court in the Sabarimala case and also filed various PILs before the Kerala High Court relating to temples that are under state control. M. V. Soundararajan is a Hereditary Trustee cum Archaka of the Shri Chilkur Balaji Temple in Hyderabad and has introduced reforms in the temple. He is a recipient of ‘Best Teacher Award’ from the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1981. The interveners have submitted preliminary suggestions regarding accounting and audit procedures for the Temple.
